Biography

John Aalberg was born in Norway and, after immigrating to the United States, he became a US citizen only in January 1992, barely in time to ski for the US at the 1992 Winter Olympics. Aalberg competed in college for the University of Utah and was NCAA champion in 1984 and 1985 at 15K. He was a three-time winner of the Great American Ski Chase Series. Aalberg later became director of sports for the Nordic disciplines and general manager of the Whistler Olympic Park in preparation for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver. He also served as the sports director and venue manager at the 2011 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo, Norway.
