Biography

German René Taubenrauch was a long-distance speed skater who finished a surprising sixth over 5,000 metres at the 1998 Nagano Olympics as his best result. Four years later at Salt Lake City, he could not fulfil his expectations and finished 32nd and last in the 5,000 metres after a fall. Nationally, he gained four titles, three over 5,000 metres (1995, 1998, 2000) and one over 10,000 (1995).

Personal Bests: 500 – 38.83 (2001); 1000 – 1:16.68 (2006); 1500 – 1:51.94 (2002); 5000 – 6:34.32 (2005); 10000 – 13:38.46 (2004).
