Chad (CHA)

Chad’s National Olympic Committee (NOC) was formed in 1963 and recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1964. The nation first competed at the Olympic Games that year. With the exception of the Olympics of 1976 and 1980, which it boycotted, Chad has taken part in every Games since making its début in 1964. Chad has not yet competed at the Olympic Winter Games and has never won an Olympic medal.

The first Chadian athlete to compete at the Olympics was high jumper Mahamat Idriss, who represented France in 1960. In 13 Olympic appearances through 2022, Chad has been represented by 29 Olympians in four sports – archery (1 athlete), track & field athletics (23), boxing (1), and judo (4).

The best Olympic performance by a Chadian was in the 1964 men’s high jump, when Mahamat Idriss placed ninth.
