IOC Television and Marketing Services ()

The IOC Television and Marketing Services Commission was formed during the Presidency of Thomas Bach, combining two previous commissions, the Radio and Television Commission and the Marketing Commission.

The Radio and Television Commission (RTV Commission) has been known by various names. The first “media” commission was the Press and Public Relations Commission, which was formed in 1967 and lasted until 1972. At that time, two separate Commissions, the Press Commission and the Television Commission were created. A Radio Commission existed briefly in 1984. In 1985, this was merged with the Television Commission to form the Radio and Television Commission. There were IOC Members on the commission, but the bulk of this commission was made up of representatives of the television and radio networks worldwide, as well as representatives of the Organizing Committee(s) of the Olympics Games (OCOGs) who dealt with the electronic media. The RTV Commission was disbanded with its duties taken over by the Communications Commission, but eventually came under the umbrella of the IOC Television and Marketing Services Commission.

The Marketing Commission was originally called the New Sources of Financing Commission, and was formed in 1983. The most notable chair of this commission was Dick Pound, the Canadian International Olympic Committee (IOC) Member who was known for his negotiating skills with television networks and with prospective sponsors of the Olympic Movement. It was Pound and this commission that was responsible in 1984-85 with forming The Olympic Programme (TOP), which recruits a small number of major corporations to be supporting sponsors of the Olympic Movement for each Olympiad. Under President Thomas Bach the Marketing Commission was subsumed within the IOC Television and Marketing Services.

As of 2022 the chair of the IOC Television and Marketing Services is Jiří Kejval.
