International Pierre de Coubertin Committee

The International Pierre de Coubertin Committee was founded in 1976. It is committed to the dissemination and study of Pierre de Coubertin’s works and his humanitarianism. The first president of the International Pierre de Coubertin Committee was Dr. Paul Martin (SUI), followed in 1977 by Geoffroy de Navacelle (FRA), Coubertin’s grand-nephew, and later by Conrado Durántez Corral (ESP). The current president is Dr. Norbert Müller (GER), with Durántez and de Navacelle considered presidents of honour. There was previously an independent International Olympic Committee (IOC) Commission, the Pierre de Coubertin Commission, although several executives served on both boards, but this Commission has been disbanded.
