Tug-of-war has been contested at the Olympics in 1900, 1904, 1906, 1908, 1912, and 1920. The 1904 competition was held at Francis Field, the main Olympic Stadium on the campus of Washington University in St. Louis. Six teams competed, with a South African and Greek team, and four American club teams.
