There had been 14 shooting events contest at Stockholm in 1912, and 21 at Antwerp in 1920. The 1924 Olympic organizers cut down the program quite a bit, but there were still 10 shooting events on the program in Paris, including four team events. This would be the last time that team shooting events would be contested at the Olympics until the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. The 1924 World Championships were held in Rheims, France, one week prior to the Olympic events. The Olympic rifle and pistol shooting events were contested in Rheims (at Camp de Châlons and Parc des Sports), but the clay target and running target events were held in Versailles (at Le Stand de Versailles) and Issy-les-Moulineaux (at Le Stand d’Issy-les-Moulineaux).
