The Olympic boxing tournament was held in the Krachtsportgebouw in Amsterdam. Competition took place between the 7th and 11th of August in 8 weight categories. With entries now limited to one boxer per nation, the number of participants was slightly reduced but the number of countries represented rose to 29. Okamoto and Usuda of Japan became the first Asian boxers to compete at Olympic level.
