The women’s team sprint at the Paris Games was now on par with the men’s event, with each team consisting of three riders instead of just the two who competed at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. China were the defending champions, with Bao Shanju and Zhong Tianshi winning gold in Tokyo, but only Bao was present in Paris. The German silver medalists, Lea-Sophie Friedrich and Emma Hinze, both made the start line in Paris, along with Pauline Grabosch, with the trio also being the defending track World champions. There was also strong competition from the teams representing Great Britain, the Netherlands, and New Zealand.

In the qualification round, the Great Britain’s team of Katy Marchant, Sophie Capewell, and Emma Finucane set the pace with a World record time, finishing ahead of New Zealand and Germany. The first round saw Great Britain beat their own World record to advance, along with New Zealand, Germany, and the Netherlands.

The bronze medal final saw the German trio of Pauline Grabosch, Emma Hinze, and Lea-Sophie Friedrich beat the Dutch team of Kyra Lamberink, Hetty van de Wouw, and Steffie van der Peet. Team GB proved to unbeatable in the final, setting another World record as they beat the New Zealand trio of Rebecca Petch, Shaane Fulton, and Ellesse Andrews by almost half-a-second.
