Soviet football forward Yury Belyayev joined the youth team of CSKA Moscow in the late 1940s, playing for their senior team in the early 1950s. Belyayev then had a brief spell with FC Kolomna, before returning to CSKA in 1955, scoring 52 goals in 111 matches for the side. In 1955 he won the USSR Cup with the team, in addition to finishing third in the USSR Championship. One year later he was named in the USSR national team for the football tournament at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, although he did not play in any matches at the Games.
Belyayev ended his playing career with CSKA in 1960, returning to the club in 1966 to spend a season as their coach. From 1974 to 1980 he served as the head coach of the Soviet Armed Forces, before spending a final spell coaching CSKA in 1982.
