Biography

Mikhail Yakovlev played as a midfielder and defender for the St. Petersburg clubs Kolomyagi (1909–11) and Unitas (1911-16). With Unitas he won the St. Petersburg championship in 1912 and the Saint Petersburg cup twice (1912, 1913).

Yakovlev had his official début for Russia at the 1912 Olympic Games, where he played against Germany in the consolation round. Two days later, he faced Norway in his second international match and Sweden in his last game in 1913. He won a total of three caps for the national team. He died in 1942 during the siege of Leningrad.
