Reuben Perach played basketball for Israel at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. He also played at the 1953 European Championships, helping the Israeli team to a fifth-place finish.
While on the national team Perach was a soldier with Unit 101, a mythical unit in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). In preparation for the Helsinki Olympics, Israeli Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion asked that the players all use Hebrew names, so Perach became Reuven Farah for a time, although he reverted to his given names after the Games.

Sources are unclear on exact date of death. We have seen both 29 April (Hebrew Wikipedia, but unsourced) and 1 May (from news site Walla!, but combines it with a wrong age). We've used the latter here.
