Serbian footballer Dejan Milovanović made his senior début for Red Star Belgrade in November 2001 after coming through their youth system. Milovanović went on to play 155 matches for the team over the next seven seasons before joining the French club RC Lens in 2008. He returned to Red Star in 2010 on loan, followed by a brief spell with the Greek club Panionios, with him finishing his career in Serbia with Voždovac in the 2013–14 season. Milovanović won multiple honours with Red Star including the First League of Serbia and Montenegro (2003–04, 2005–06), the Serbian SuperLiga (2006–07), the Serbia and Montenegro Cup (2001–02, 2003–04, 2005–06), and the Serbian Cup (2006–07).
From 2003 to 2007 Milovanović made 23 appearances for the Serbia U21 team, representing Serbia and Montenegro at the 2004 Athina Olympics. He played in their opening match of the tournament at the Games, losing 6–0 to the eventual gold medallists Argentina. Milovanović also played in two senior matches for the Serbian team, appearing in two friendlies in May 2008. Tragically, he was only 41-years-old when he died from a heart attack during a football match in Beograd.
