Biography

John Haas represented the Philadelphia Canoe Club and competed for the US at two Olympics (1952-56) in canoeing. In 1956 Haas was almost 48-years-old at the Melbourne Olympics. He teamed with Frank Krick to make a formidable doubles pair in Canadian canoeing. They were US champions in C-2 in 1946-47, 1949, 1954, and 1956, with Haas also winning in 1955 with John Pagkos. Haas also helped Philly CC to C-4 US titles in 1954 and 1956. Haas worked as a painter at the time of the 1956 Olympics.
