Biography

Tricia Gardiner took up equestrian relatively late, having discovered her aptitude while managing the family farm. She took up competition in the 1960s, but her career was interrupted after a riding accident broke both of her legs. She was considered for the 1976 Montreal Olympics and eventually made the British national dressage team in 1977, remaining there until 1990, with her most notable appearance coming at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. There, she placed 22nd in the individual competition and 10th with the team. She also missed out on the 1980 Moscow Games, as the British equestrian team decided to boycott. She later worked as a judge, while continuing to train and mentor horses and riders.
