Wanda Wąsowska’s interest in equestrian sport came from her uncle, Janusz Komorowski, who represented Poland in jumping at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. World War II prevented her from engaging in any competitions but, after the conflict, she began working in the stables, while also studying at the Agricultural University of Kortów, graduating in 1957. After this, she began training horses and running a farm, eventually taking up coaching in 1978. Two years later, however, she was selected to represent Poland in the dressage tournament at the 1980 Moscow Olympics, where she was eliminated in the qualifying round individually, and just missed a medal in fourth in the team event. Domestically, she won silver medals in the individual dressage in 1978 and 1979.
