Øystein Slettemark was a Greenlandic national. His daughter, Ukaleq Astri Slettemark, won the 2019 World Biathlon Junior Championship for Greenland. Øystein is married to Uiloq Slettemark who is also a biathlete. The coupled has competed about 30 times in the Arctic Circle Race, winning numerous medals. His wife has won 14 medals and could have won a 15th if she had not been seven months pregnant while competing.
