Biography

German three-day-eventer Bruno Neumann won the bronze medal with Ilja in the individual event at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympic Games. He was also part of the German team but they had to withdraw from the team event after team-mate Walter Feyerabend could not finish the cross country section and had to withdraw from the jumping, but Germany were the highest-scoring of the teams who withdrew. Neumann was at the time of the Games a Major in the army, stationed at the Cavalry School in Hannover.
