Biography

Russian handball player Viktoriya Divak played in the Russian Women’s Handball Super League, as well as leagues in France, Germany, and Belarus. Divak first played for Dinamo Volgograd from 2011 to 2014, where she won three Russian Championships, before moving to league rivals HC Kuban Krasnodar. She then had spells for Achenheim Truchtersheim Handball in France, SV Union Halle-Neustadt in Germany, and HC Gomel in Belarus, winning two national championships with the latter. In 2021 Divak returned to Russia to play for HC Astrakhanochka in the Handball Super League.

Divak had a promising international career playing for the Russian under-17 team, winning a silver medal at the 2009 U-17 European Championships. In 2010 she was part of Russia’s squad at the Under-18 World Cup and won a silver medal at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics.

In April 2023 Divak’s career came to a tragic end when she fell to her death from the eighth floor of an apartment block in Astrakhan in southern Russia. She was 29.
