Biography

Mexico’s Fernando Vanoye was a talented judoka who won multiple gold medals at a national level in the 100kg weight class. Vanoye began his judo career from a very young age, fighting at different weight categories from 64kg to 100kg. In 2005, when he was 14-years-old, he won gold at a junior tournament.

In 2009 Vanoye competed at the World Championships in Budapest and the Pan-American Youth Championships. The following year he was part of Mexico’s delegation at the Summer Youth Olympics in Singapore where he took part in the individual and team competitions. In 2011 Vanoye competed at the World Judo Juniors Championships in South Africa where he was awarded with the fair play olive wreath.

Shortly after the World Juniors Vanoye was forced to end his competitive career due to health problems. In April 2023 Vanoye’s body was found in Ciudad Victoria, with authorities stating that he had been beaten to death. He was 29-years-old.
