Biography

Karl Gulbrandsen, son of a prison warden, was born and lived in Kristiania (now Oslo). He worked as a shop assistant and agent, at least for some time in a sports shop. In 1916, he travelled to New York.

In 1912, he competed in the road time trial at the Olympic Games in Stockholm. He did not finish the race and withdrew in Strängnäs, after less than 100 km. Norway was not counted for the team event, as only three of the required four members finished the race.
