Biography

Cyclist Taworn Jirapan joined the Thai national team in 1959, winning gold in the scratch race at the SEAP Games that same year. A few years later Jirapan then won gold in the road race and silver in the team road race at the 1962 Asian Games in Jakarta. The following year he won seven medals at the Asian Cycling Championships in Malaysia, including four golds. In 1964 he participated in the individual road race at the Tokyo Olympics. Despite placing 89th in the race, he was in the main peloton of riders who were only 0.2 seconds behind the race winner.
