Biography

Osvald Johansson had an impressive start to his cycling career when he won both the national road race title and the Tour of Sweden in 1955. Johansson continued to be consistent in the road race at the Swedish championships, finishing third in 1957 and second in 1960. He also had good results on the track, winning the team title in 1959 and the team time trial in both 1960 and 1961. In 1960 he was part of the Swedish quartet that finished fifth in the 100 kilometres team time trial at the Roma Olympics, in addition to his finishing 47th in the individual road race.
