Biography

Cyclist Adolf Kofler placed second in a 1911 road race Wien (Vienna) – Graz – Wien (Vienna). He then qualified for the 1912 Olympics when he finished fourth in the trial event held on a street track between Purkersdorf-Rekawinkel-St. Pölten-Sieghartskirchen-Purkersdorf on 2 June 1912. That competition was three laps of the course, totalling 291 km, with Kofler finishing in 11-17:44. At the Games he finished seventh with the road race team and 31st individually among 120 competitors.

During World War I Kofler served with the Cyclist Company of the 24th Infantry Battalion. He was killed in action in April 1915 while serving in Monte Piano, Italy.
