Biography

Zdeněk Košta was a competitive cyclist who competed during the late 1940s and early 1950s. In 1951 Košta became the national champion of Czechoslovakia on the track in the sprint event, winning the title ahead of Václav Machek. The following year he competed in the same event at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, but finished second in his heat, before being eliminated in the repêchage. Košta was 97-years-old when he died in October 2020 and was the oldest living Olympic cyclist and Olympian to have represented Czechoslovakia.
