In 1966 Ecuadorian cyclist Víctor Morales finished second in the inaugural edition of the Vuelta al Ecuador. Two years later Morales was selected to represent his nation at the Mexico City Olympics. Whilst he did not finish in the road race, he did place 22nd in the team time trial with his compatriots.
