Biography

Henry Ohayon was born in Morocco before moving to Israel in 1956 after turning down an offer with a professional cycling team in France. Ohayon and his two younger brothers joined the Hapoel Ashkelon team and all went on to win titles in Israel. In 1959 he won his first Israeli road race title with victory in the 100km race from Tel Aviv to Haifa. Ohayon went on to win five more national road race titles between 1960 and 1965. In 1960 he cycled in the road race at the Roma Olympics, finishing in 39th place in the main peloton, 20 seconds behind the race winner. Ohayon retired as a cyclist in 1968.
