Biography

Zbigniew Szczepkowski was a cyclist who was at home on both the track and the roads. He raced the team pursuit at the 1980 Moskva Olympics. In 1981 he had his best finish on the road in a major event when he finished third in the Milk Race. He won several Polish championships both in the team time trial and the team pursuit. His other major road wins were the 1982 Tour of Turkey, the 1984 Coppa Caduti in Arezzo, Italy, and the 1985 Coppa Giulio Burci in Poggio, Italy.

Szczepkowski later became a trainer of cyclists. From 2000 he was the sports director of Polish professional cycling clubs. In 2016 he worked at the Polish Cycling Association. For his achievements in cycling, in November 2010 he was awarded with the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.
