Biography

Commercial artist Rüdiger Halt from München (Munich) was the son of the IOC member and banker Karl von Halt. After his school years, Rüdiger was called up for military service and was taken prisoner by the Americans at the end of World War II. He created numerous advertising posters for sports events as well as book cover designs. Because the Official Report lists his works only as “posters” or “brochures”, they could not be identified. Designs by Halt were used for publications commemorating the 1952 Helsinki Olympics.
