Biography

Newbold Black attended the University of Pennsylvania, receiving a degree in chemical engineering in 1951. He later became an executive, primarily in marketing, with the Badger Company in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and the Pullman Kellogg Company in Houston. In addition to his Olympic hockey appearance, Black competed at the national level in figure skating, and was also a world figure skating judge. He also won a hockey bronze medal at the 1967 Pan-American Games. Black would eventually serve as Vice-President of the US Olympic Committee, Vice-President of the International Hockey Federation, and Chef de Mission for the US Olympic team at the 1964 Innsbruck Winter Olympics.
