Biography

Barbara Orzechowska-Ryszel fenced foil when it was the only available weapon for women in competition. She competed for two different clubs in Warszawa, AZS and Legion. Orzechowska-Ryszel won two individual national foil titles, in 1956 and 1960, and two team foil titles, in 1955-56. In 1954, 1959-60, and 1966 her team was runner-up at the Polish championships. She was awarded the Gold and Silver Cross of Merit by the Polish government.
