Biography

Klaus Kotzmann was a member of the East German foil fencing team, placing an unfortunate fourth at the 1980 Moskva Olympics. He was also eliminated in the round two barrage in the individual event. At the 1983 Worlds in Wien he won a team silver medal. In 1982 and 1984, he was runner-up at the East German nationals. With his home club ASK Vorwärts Potsdam he won an East German team championship in 1980.

Kotzmann studied sports at the DHfK Leipzig (Deutsche Hochschule für Körperkultur) and became a fencing coach first with ASK Vorwärts Potsdam, and after German re-unification with FC Tauberbischofsheim in West Germany.
