Biography

Fencer Frank Beck was a member of the silver medal-winning West German foil team at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. In 1981 he won his first international medal, at the World Championships, with a team bronze. In 1983, the foil team won the final against East Germany and took the gold medal.

Beck was the son of famous fencing coach Emil Beck at Tauberbischofsheim, but was coached by other trainers instead. Frank later became a chemist and was the CEO of a medical technology company. He was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award.
