Biography

Amon, Ritter von Gregurich graduated from university in 1897 and then trained under Italian fencing master Luigi Barbasetti, becoming an expert sabreur. Von Gregurich won the Hungarian title in sabre in 1895 and was second in 1896. He then competed in sabre at the 1900 Paris Olympics, just missing the top three. As a Lieutenant Colonel, von Gregurich served with the Imperial and Royal Hussars during World War I. He was killed in action in June 1915 in Mukachevo in Ukraine.
