Ugo Di Nola was a fencer from Pisa. He had his first podium in 1907 when he finished second in the Pavia tournament with the sabre, his preferred weapon, behind Austrian Richard Verderber. He missed the team event at that tournament due to a dislocated shoulder. Together with the regional rivals from Livorno, he was selected for the Italian team competing at the 1912 Olympic Games. Di Nola fenced in Italy’s only match in round one against Russia and in the semi-final matches against Hungary and Germany. Eventually Italy only placed a disappointing fifth. In the Official Report he was also listed as a judge in fencing.
After the Games, Di Nola appeared mainly in exhibitions and later settled in Milano (Milan), highly regarded in local fencing circles.
