Biography

Cecil Matthews was a Great Yarmouth builder and in 1950/51 was the town’s Mayor. He was also involved with gymnastics for a large part of his life while living in London. He regularly judged at the Metropolitan and Southern Counties Championships and at events at the Northampton Polytechnic Institute. Matthews was the treasurer of the British Amateur Gymnastics Association for many years and was one of the judges at the 1924, 1928 and 1952 Olympics.
