Einar Sörensen entered the army as a second lieutenant in the Life Regiment Dragoons and attended the Military Academy from 1900-02. After that, he was promoted to lieutenant and was transferred to the reserve in 1906, where he rose to the rank of cavalry captain a few years later.
Sörensen followed his father and worked in the timber business. He became director of his father’s sawmill company, the Säfveåns AB. At the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm, Sörensen placed fifth in the individual épée tournament, the only Swedish competitor to reach the final pool in any individual fencing event in 1912. He also placed fourth with the Swedish épée team, losing on bouts in the final round. Later, he became chairman of the board of the Swedish Fencing Section.
