Valdemars Baumanis was a Latvian basketball player and coach who coached the Latvian national team at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. He was the national team coach in 1935-36 and 1938-40. Baumanis was a two-time Latvian Champion as a player with JKS, winning in 1925 and 1929. He was capped six times.
From 1931-41 Baumanis coached the Army Sports Club, leading them to the Latvian Championship three times consecutively from 1939-41. He coached the national team to the 1935 European Championship and to a runner-up finish in that tournament in 1939.
