Biography

Joannette Kruger was a South African tennis player who played professionally from 1989 to 2003. Kruger achieved a career-best singles ranking of 21 in the world in May 1998, and a doubles ranking of 91 in the world in April 2002.

Kruger won her first ITF singles title in May 1990 in Bournemouth, England, beating Anna Benzon in straight sets. In 1992 she had three more singles victories on the ITF Circuit. Her first WTA singles title came in March 1995 at the Puerto Rico Open with victory against Kyoko Nagatsuka. Her only other WTA singles title came two years later at the Prague Open when she beat Marion Maruska. Her only WTA doubles title was at the 2001 Polish Open when she teamed with Italy’s Francesca Schiavone with them beating the duo of Yuliya Beihelzimer and Anastasia Rodionova.
