Biography

Davie Holt joined Queen’s Park from Lugar Boswell Thistle Juniors in 1954 and spent six seasons in the Scottish League with the amateur club. During his time with them he was selected for Great Britain at the 1960 Olympics and he played at left-back in all three matches. After the Olympics he became a full-time professional with Heart of Midlothian and made 231 League appearances for the Edinburgh club before moving to Partick Thistle in 1970 for one season before retiring after more than 300 League games. Between 1963 and 1964 he won four full Scottish international caps, playing alongside some of Scotland’s great players; Jim Baxter, Ian St John, Denis Law, Dave Mackay, Davie Wilson and Frank McLintock.
