David Stokes

Guatemalan footballer David Stokes was only 15-years old when made his professional début for Comunicaciones FC, scoring both goals in their 2–0 win against Antigua. Stokes played four seasons with the team before joining CD Oro in Mexico in 1966, with him returning to Comunicaciones in 1968 where he won the league title. His domestic career lasted until 1976, playing with several other teams in Guatemala, as well as a stint with Adler in El Salvador.

Stokes also represented the national team, first as a youth player at the 1962 CONCACAF Youth Tournament in Panama, where Guatemala finished second. Six years later he was selected to play in the football tournament at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. Stokes became the first Guatemalan footballer to score a goal at the Games when they beat Czechoslovakia 1–0 in their opening match. The team progressed from the group stage but lost to the eventual gold medallists, Hungary, in the quarter-finals.
