Indian footballer defender Menon Chandrasekhar had a lengthy domestic career and played for Caltex in Bombay from 1956 to 1966, followed by a spell at the State Bank of India from 1966 until 1973. Chandrasekhar also played for the India national football team from 1958 to 1966. He represented India at the 1960 Roma Olympics, playing in all three matches for the team in the tournament, including their 1–1 draw against France. Two years later he was part of the Indian team that won the football tournament at the 1962 Asian Games in Jakarta, beating South Korea 2–1 in the final. In 1964 India made their début in the AFC Asian Cup where they finished runners-up to the hosts Israel. Chandrasekhar also won silver medals at the Merdeka Tournament in Malaya in 1959 and 1964.
