Biography

Very little is known of Curt Benckert’s life. He was born in Sundsvall, but played tennis at Kungliga Lawn Tennis Klubben (KLTK) in Stockholm. Benckert played the outdoor singles at the 1912 Olympics, and also played with Wollmar Boström in doubles, both in- and outdoors. Benckert lost his first match in singles to Austrian Arthur Zborzil. In doubles, he and Bostrom made the quarterfinals outdoors, but never won a match, advancing on two walkovers. Indoors they also made the quarters, and were also winless, receiving a bye in round one.
