Kwok Yu got his start as a senior footballer with Kitchee SC in 1952 and stayed with them through 1960, winning the Hong Kong Senior Shield in 1954 and 1960. This was also his most active period with the Taiwanese national team, as he won a gold medal at the 1958 Asian Games and also took part in the 1960 Rome Olympics, where his country, competing as “Formosa”, was eliminated in the preliminary round. He then transferred to South China AA and remained there through 1963, winning the Hong Kong First Division and the Senior Shield in 1961 and 1962.
Kwok then bounced between teams every year for the next four seasons, playing with Kwong Wah AA, Tung Wah Sports Club, and Eastern Sports Club, before returning to South China AA. He ended his career with Caroline Hill FC from 1967-69. He also remained a member of the national squad through 1966, competing in the Asian Games again in the final year, where his nation was eliminated in the preliminary round. He then had a brief coaching career during the 1970s. At the time of his death in 2026, he was still Kitchee SC’s all-time scoring leader.
