Biography

Roselore Sonntag, an East German gymnast, finished sixth with the team in the all-around event and 48th in the individual all-around at the 1960 Roma Olympic Games. She did not advance to any of the individual finals. Sonntag won eight national titles from 1954-60.

Sonntag later became a very successful coach. In 1969 she took over the East German women’s national team. Her pupils Erika Zuchold, Karin Janz, Kerstin Gerschau and Steffi Kräker won several medals at European Championships, World Championships, and the Olympic Games.
