Biography

Axel Norling competed in three Olympic Games, in three different sports, winning medals at each Games. In 1906 at Athina, he competed in high diving, finishing only 16th, but he also helped Sweden win a bronze medal in tug-of-war. At the 1908 and 1912 Olympics Norling won gold medals in team gymnastics. His brother, Daniel Norling, also won team gymnastics gold medals in 1908 and 1912, and then won another gold medal in equestrian show jumping team at the 1920 Antwerpen Olympics. Axel Norling was a qualified engineer, who eventually became director and head of the Marine Division for A-B Separator (later Alfa Laval).
