Born in Montenegro, then part of Yugoslavia, Svetlana Mugoša-Antić, sister of Ljiljana Mugoša, represented her country of birth at the 1984 Los Angeles and 1988 Seoul Olympics, winning the gold medal in 1984 and placing fourth in 1988. Due to the Bosnian War, Mugoša-Antić fled to Austria and was naturalised in 1991 and represented her new home country at the 2000 Sydney Games and finished fifth.
Mugoša-Antić won 153 international caps with Yugoslavia and 45 with Austria. At World Championships, she won a silver medal with Yugoslavia in 1990 and a bronze medal with Austria in 1999.
At club level, Mugoša-Antić played with ŽRK Budućnost Podgorica (1979-89), and ORK Belgrade (1989-90) in Yugoslavia, Hypo Niederösterreich (1990-92) in Austria, USM Gagny (1992-94), CS Noisy-le-Grand (1996-2000), and Entente Sportive Bisontine Féminin (2000-03) in France. She won the European Cup Winner’s Cup with Titograd in 1985 and with Bisontine in 2003. Mugoša-Antić also won the European Champions Cup with Niederösterreich in 1992.
