Biography

During the 1960s Italian all-round sportsman Giancarlo Morresi competed in the modern pentathlon. In 1968 Morresi was selected to represent his nation in the event at the Mexico City Olympics. In the individual event he started off poorly, placing 40th in the riding and 22nd in the fencing. He then had the joint-best result in the shooting, tying with two other athletes for first place with 195 points. After finishing seventh in the swimming, Morresi then dropped back down the order, placing 38th in the running to finish 24th overall. His individual performances helped the Italians to finish ninth overall in the team event.
