Biography

A representative of the Rosario Regatas Club, Argentine rower Juan Carlos Gómez competed at two Olympics and won medals at three Pan American Games. Gómez won gold at the 1951 Pan American Games in the coxless fours with Luis Pecchenino and the non-Olympians Juan Alchino and Osvaldo Maia. Gómez and Pecchenino won another gold at the 1955 Pan American Games in the same event with Guido Mazzotta and Rubén Cossettini completing the crew. Gómez won his third and final medal at Pan American Games when he rowed in the coxed fours in 1967. He did not have the same success at the Olympics where he finished in 12th place in the double sculls at the 1964 Tokyo Games and in eighth place in the coxed fours at the 1968 Mexico City Games.
