Mervin Kaye

Mervin Kaye was one of the eight members of the Toronto Argonaut Rowing Club who were selected to represent Canada in the eights event at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. Alongside Ted Chilcott, Jack Taylor, Norm Rowe, John Sharp, Frank Young, Jack Russell, George McCauley, and Bo Westlake, the team just fell short of the final, as they were eliminated in the semi-final repêchage. He was later a member of the Don Rowing Club in Mississauga in the mid-1950s.

By profession, Kaye was a salesperson and worked in various positions including with the Globe and Mail, Thor Industries Limited, and Howlett & Smith Photo Engravers. He also worked for a public relations consulting firm in the 1960s. He later retired to the Guelph, Ontario area along with his wife, actress and performer Margaret Eggleton-Kaye. Known for her impersonation act of Queen Elizabeth II, Kaye also joined his wife in her performances, posing as a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officer as a guard to the Queen.
